Black Stone 12.5 x 12.5 cm indistinct annotation in the bottom Sketch on the back of a black pencil leg Slightly insulated We can compare our drawing with another head study "portrait of Lady Hamilton" by Wicar, of the same technique (see Catalogue du Salon du Dessin de 2003, Thomas Williams, rep.) Wicar accompanied David with Drouais to Rome in 1784/1785. Together they will spend a few years drawing from the antique. Wicar was elected a member of the Academy of St. Luke in Rome in 1805.
