Pierre PUGET (Château - Follet 1620-Marseille 1694) - Lot 71
Pierre PUGET (Château - Follet 1620-Marseille 1694) Magnificent galley boarding near a dock; on the front, on the left, a portefaix; in the background, on the right, Notre-Dame de la Garde Plume and brown and black inks on vellum 31.5 x 58.7 cm Annotated at the bottom in the center on the assembly: "Pierre Puget 1622 - 1694" Significant tear at the bottom left (about 8cm), scratch at the top right, epidermides, stains Used as a sculptor at the Toulon arsenal, Puget left many marine drawings, whose finesse of execution contrasts with the brutal energy expressed in the statuary's work. Working on vellum or parchment, in a technique that tolerates no repetition, he reveals himself to be a remarkable boat designer, at the same time as a landscape gardener experienced in the most subtle effects of light.
