Tapestry of Lille, workshop Guillaume Werniers In the foreground two characters in the taste of the painter David Téniers (1610-1690) great specialist of the scenes of villages and whose models were in particular woven by the workshops of Oudenaarde, Aubusson, Brussels Felletin and Lille for this tapestry. The man on the left plays the flute with his dog at his feet, the one on the right is a shepherd, we see his sheep near him, in the background, a huge French-style garden bordered by majestic buildings and in the background we can guess the relief. Like all the tapestries of the Werniers workshops, the colours are very well preserved. Early 18th century weaving 230 cm x 356 cm Monogram "GW" meaning Guillaume Werniers is woven at the bottom right of the tapestry Tapestry surrounded by three borders decorated with quivers, shells, and garlands of flowers entangled in ironwork.
