JAMMES (Francis) (1868-1938) - Lot 96
JAMMES (Francis) (1868-1938) 2 Manuscripts, the second of which is signed. Hasparren (n.d.), 2 p. 1/4 and 3 p. 1/2 folio, titles and a few rare autograph corrections, margin notes in pencil used for printing, bound. - Manuscript entitled La jeunesse de Victor Hugo à André Le Breton. Very complimentary and full of poetry for his book on the youth of Hugo, which he concludes as follows: "... Thank you, my dear André Le Breton, for having made me relive the springtime of an immense poet. In my turn, I present him to you, but in the immortality that has no more seasons. May you evoke him through me, as well as he appeared to me thanks to you ". - Manuscript entitled The Mature Age, Old Age and Immortality. Curious text evoking ancient authors, mythology and characterizing some men: Thiers, Clemenceau: "... It is the most French nature that he gave me to approach; he mixes to Watteau's horizons the azure of a pipe's head, if one can say: well cheeky, his own! Brave Georges... No one better than Raffaëlli has crunched it with these elephant's foot pants, in front of this anti-syllabic, or rather syllable-hostile audience!... ». La Jeunesse de Victor Hugo by André Le Breton appeared in 1927.
