MONTHERLANT (Henry), écrivain français (1895-1972) 8 L.S. typed at G. Tosi 1963-1972, 10 p. in various formats: May 1963: about a photo of Mussolini and a sentence of D'Annunzio; December 1967: Premiere of his play: "The City of which the Prince is a Child"; June 1971: "Your thesis on d'Annunzio will counterbalance some ignorant and ignoble articles I read about him recently. But why did you choose to republish The Child of Voluptuousness? I remember it's a very bad novel... "October 1971: he sent him two typewritten pages on d'Annunzio which he intended to insert in his new Notebooks; November 1971: he read Nocturne in its entirety and made an addition to his text: "I have no problem with this text being published before the publication of my Notebooks in Italy: it will harm me but I don't care... "He was advised to remove the phrase "his humiliating subjection to Mussolini". November 25, 1971: Montherlant sends the article after a complete rereading of the Nocturne that he can give to an Italian newspaper. He was told that Antongini was a perfidious friend of d'Annunzio should he remove the term "secretary" and "friend"? He explains his attachment to Nocturne by an accident three years ago which caused him to lose the vision in one eye; 29 November 1971: addition to his text; 9 February 1972: he is in a clinic and asks him to send to the Italian newspaper an extract from his notebooks: La Marée Noire which will appear on 17 March in bookshops; March and April 1972: request for information.
