Paul and Virginia. Paris, Didot the Elder, 1806. In-folio, red morocco, decoration in the style of Du Seuil, back with 5 ornamented nerves, inside lace, gilded edges (Petit Succr de Simier). Very beautifully illustrated edition containing a portrait by Lafitte, engraved by Ribault and 6 figures out of text by Gérard, Girodet, Isabey, Lafitte, Moreau and Prudhon, engraved on copper by Bourgeois de la Richardière, Bovinet, Mecou, Pillement fils, Prot and Roger. One of the rare copies printed in folio format, with the first edition of the illustrations before the letter. Beautiful copy, large margins, in an elegant binding by Petit, Simier's successor. Freckles, repairs to 4 leaves.
