DESCRIPTION OF THE FESTIVALS GIVEN by the city of Paris on the occasion of the Wedding of Madame Louise- Elisabeth of France and Dom Philippe, Infant and Grand Admiral of Spain... Paris, Le Mercier, 1740. folio, red morocco, fleurdelisé roulette wheel with lilies in the corners and central coat of arms, spine with 10 ribs decorated with repeated lilies, inner roulette wheel, gilt edges (period binding). Cohen, 288 / Ruggieri, 570 /// (1f.)-22 Splendid publication produced on the occasion of the marriage of Louise-Elisabeth of France, daughter of Louis XV, to Dom Philippe, infantryman of Spain, second son of Philip V of Spain, Duke of Parma, Piacenza and Guastalla, which took place on 29 and 30 August 1739. A large title vignette of Bouchardon engraved by Soubeyran, a large head vignette drawn and engraved by Rigaud, a repeated lettering and 13 engraved plates, 8 of which were double plates drawn by Blondel, Gabriel, Salley and Servandoni, engraved by Blondel. The plates reveal the splendour of the celebrations that were given on the Seine, jousting, fireworks, and balls at the Town Hall. Copy with the arms of the City of Paris. A few stains on the plates and rubbing on the hinges, some old restorations and minimal pitting, handwritten annotations on a guard.
