Important publication intended to be the perfect description of France with, for each department, text leaves, steel-engraved non-text plates and a folding map. The publication was published in separate issues of 12 pages (2 e.g.), 16 p (34 e.g.), 18 p (3 e.g.), 20 p (8 e.g.), 22 p (3 e.g.), 24 p (15 e.g.), 28 p (1 e.g.), 32 p (7 e.g.), 36 p (2 e.g.), 36 p (2 e.g.), 40 p (3 e.g.), 44 p (2 e.g.), 48 p (4 e.g.), 52 p (1 e.g.) and 160 p (1 e.g.).), 11 g (1 ex.), 12 g (7 ex.), 13 g (6 ex.), 14 g (2 ex.), 18 g (2 ex.), 19 g (1 ex.) and even 56 g (1 ex.), making a total of 624 non-text engravings and a large folding card. Each volume is preceded by 2 unencrypted leaves and the work ends with a Statistical Overview of France by Girault de Saint-Fargeau (1836) of (2f.)-135 and 70. A very complete copy of the Notice du Guide pittoresque and of the rarely found engravings and portraits. Copy containing an advertising pamphlet describing the edition and the efforts of the publishers to enrich it and satisfy subscribers. Tears on the large map.
