MICHEL
L'Indicateur fidèle, or Traveller's Guide, which teaches all the Royal and Private Roads of France . Paris, D, 1775. In-4, marbled calf, spine with 5 raised bands (pastiche binding). Phillips, 2991 /// 17. Tabbed work, including a title, a dedication in an allegorical setting and 20 double-page maps or leaflets of the roads of France. The first 2 maps are general maps of France and the 18 others are the routes that leave mainly from Paris to the provinces. The unengraved sheets of text form a table that makes it easy to find the city to which one wishes to go. The maps mention castles, hamlets, etc. and give indications on the timetables and prices of stagecoaches. Copy with the coloured maps. Nice copy despite small galleries of worms in the text and 3 plates.
