Jean-François SARASIN
Works. Paris, Courbé, 1656. Small in-4, marbled calf, decorated smooth spine (18th century binding). Cioranescu, III-1819 /// (5f.)-72-(3f.)-384 (marked 284)-193-(1f.). First collective edition, published by Ménage with a preliminary speech by Pellison. It is decorated with a portrait by Nanteuil, a title vignette, a heading and a lettering, all engraved in intaglio. Sarasin was a good-looking man, a regular at the Hôtel de Rambouillet, and did not care much about being printed. It was Ménage who, after his death, brought together his poetry and his playful or burlesque works. Epiderminations. Short copy with the frontispiece trimmed in the lower margin. Marginally missing one leaf, one page torn and stain affecting 4 leaves.
