Henry de MONTHERLANT
The Olympics. Paris, Crès, 1926. In-8, brown half-maroquin with wedges, richly ornamented 4 nerves back, golden head, cover and back (Zendel). Talvart, XX-42-7A /// 374-(3f.). First complete collective edition published in the collection "Maîtres et jeunes d'aujourd'hui" illustrated with 3 off-text lithographs by Yves Alix. One of the 50 offprints, here on van den Velde vellum (I/L). A copy of the author's uncle, bearing an autograph signed on the false title: A mon cher oncle Jean, / respectful and friendly / souvenir / M. / Sept. 29, 1926. The copy also contains four autograph pages copied and signed by Montherlant, recounting his grief to a comrade wounded in the trenches of the First World War. A fine copy despite an in-fine, poorly cut page.
