L'Estampille/L'Objet d'Art, Dijon: Ed. Faton, 2021, pp. 56-67 "Founded in Paris under the Second Empire, the workshop directed by Paul Soyer (1832- 1903) and then his son Théophile (1853-1940) produced a variety of objects, paintings, mirrors, trays, vases, candy boxes... Their production is marked by neo-Renaissance and Art Nouveau. A book of accounts allows us to observe the models of the enamel "paintings", often taken from the work of Meissonier. The Soyer family greatly contributed to the taste for painted enamels that grew from the 1860s until the 1900 exhibition. Disciples of Claudius Popelin, they excelled in a technique derived from that of the enamellers of Limoges in the 16th century, as evidenced by the medals they were awarded at the salons and universal exhibitions.
