In-16, long-grained midnight blue morocco, triple gilt fillet with large gilt floral spandrels, spine with five nicely decorated bands with repeated gilt flowers, inner lace, gilt edges, cover (Binding of the period). Vicaire, VII-74 /// XL-218-(1f.). With an introduction by Alexandre Piedagnel, and 6 hors-texte plates and 2 etched vignettes by Lalauze. Copy enriched with an engraved title for the 1829 edition, a portrait by Girodet and 4 unsigned plates. Repair to one leaf. Attached : Madame de LA FAYETTE. The Princess of Cleves. Paris, Quantin, 1878. In-12, red jansenist maroquin, spine with 5 nerves, interior lace, edges gilt on marble (Marius Michel). A frontispiece and 2 plates out of text by F. Masson, a facsimile. Some foxing.
