BONAPARTE Lucien (1775-1840) - Lot 154
BONAPARTE Lucien (1775-1840) Autograph letter signed to "Monsieur Bonaparte, administrateur général" [Joseph Bonaparte], April 27, 1792. 3 pp. in-8. Watermarked paper, address, broken armorial red wax seal. Very interesting letter in which he evokes the events of April 8, 1792. He begins by evoking the abbot Louis Coti, prosecutor-syndic of the district of Ajaccio who played an important role during these events. He announces to his brother "Today one treated the affair of Coti [...] ...... the communities of Ornano and the Substitute Prosecutor sindic of the district obtained a new term of 15 days to be made authorize by the department for this term passes to be made absolute sentence. Now it would be necessary to make win his cause to Coti to push back the authorization to the communities of Ornano according to the opinion of the district of March 28, and to prolong [...] beyond the 15 days - then Coti and declared possessor of the grounds of the Campestra.... This affair is everything for him.... I pity him for the fact that you have not answered him; it is the moment to decide his fate; thus this affair deserves all your warmth. Coti wanted to leave for Corte himself. A single thought stopped him. Here it is: the Gendarmerie revolts in Coti.... If he were to leave, perhaps these prisoners would find a way to appease M. Cesari; it is urgent that Coti remain so that they can be assured and their trial can be held. Unable to come, he sent a man. He has asked me to represent you well on the state of his affairs to encourage your diligence. Cesari eats well, enjoys himself, and every day removes those whom he had put in prison. There are now only 3 or 4 left [...]. Here are the great steps of the commission;... in truth everyone is Stomacato. Bortolo came here twice. When will I see Corté again? .... Answer me. Greet well on my behalf Famonifimo and on that of the Ternanost of the flowersÿ. [...]" Provenance Family by succession Provenance: Bonaparte family by succession.
