John Lewis BURCKHARDT. Travels in Nubia London, Murray, 1819. In-4, half marbled basane with corners, spine with 5 ornate nerves (Modern binding). Blackmer, 237 / Chahine, 713 /// (4f.)-XCII-(1f.). First edition illustrated with a portrait after Angelica Clarke engraved by Slater and 3 out-of-text maps, 2 of them folding. Title cut in the upper corner, probably to hide a stamp, and serial number in red bic, marginal repairs to the first 4 leaves, stamp Institut d'Égypte on page 49, stains to a map and a few leaves.
