First edition of this work composed by Abbé Le Mascrier on the memoirs of Benoît de Maillet. It is illustrated with a portrait-frontispiece of Maillet engraved on copper by Jeaurat, 7 hors-texte plates on copper, including 2 fold-outs, and a map (missing here). Bound with the second board bearing the arms of Charles-François de Vintimille, comte du Luc. Handwritten bookplate of Abbé Chastelain and stamp of Charles-Marie de La Condamine on the title. Missing fold-out map.
