MESRINE Jacques (1936-1979) nicknamed public enemy number on - Lot 51
MESRINE Jacques (1936-1979) nicknamed public enemy number one. 2 L.A.S. to Jeanne Schneider, Santé prison, August 1 and 2, 76. 8 pp. in-8. Letters marked "F1" and "3". On August 1, he refers to mail received that day; on August 2, he writes a long letter that could be quoted in full. He begins wisely, indicating that he has received a letter from a journalist in Montreal, and describes the reception his lawyer is receiving there, as she has to prepare her defense. He informs her of a "new Calistinian initiative": the lock on her cell has been welded "which is illegal", so that if anything goes wrong, the cell can no longer be opened. He adds, "the most comical thing is that I have in mind a good part of the keys to La Santé and Fresnes - after all, it's my job (sic) [] I'm waiting for the new school year to have my lawyers file a few complaints [] the article I'm preparing for the new school year, if I send it out, will be a bomb against the administration [...]" etc.
