Paul and Virginia. Paris, Librairie Artistique, Launette et Cie, 1886-1887. In-4, petrol blue morocco, multiple gilt fillets in frame, some of them rounded at the corners, with mosaic floral motifs, spine with 5 ribs decorated in the same way, edge to edge lining of the same morocco with gilt roulette and fillets, champagne brocaded silk endpapers, double endpapers, gilt edges on witnesses, cover (Marius Michel). Illustrations by Maurice Leloir, including 12 non-text plates engraved in etching by Auguste Boulard and numerous woodcut vignettes in the text by Huyot, Bellenger and Rousseau. A copy of the deluxe edition, printed here on China, containing 4 states of the 12 plates: final state on China, black state on Japan, black state on Japan with remarks and first state on Japan, a separate edition of the wood vignettes printed on China. Nice copy in spite of the back a little bit faded.
